US-95 IMPROVEMENTS
US-95 Improvements North of I-90
In the proposed design, US-95 has an additional travel lane in each direction and is elevated on a bridge over Appleway Avenue. Additionally, a frontage road west of US-95 connects southbound drivers from the highway to Appleway Avenue starting south of Cherry Lane. The grade separation of US-95 and Appleway Avenue will eliminate a traffic signal on US-95, greatly enhancing traffic conditions.
Benefits
-
Improves safety and efficiency on US-95 by decreasing points of traffic conflict.
-
Meets travel needs beyond the design year 2045 in conjunction with local road improvements.
-
Primarily maintains access to US-95 side streets while minimizing traffic flow directly onto the highway.
-
Adds needed connections for people who drive, walk, and bike throughout the area.
US-95 Improvements South of I-90
The proposed design will increase capacity on US-95 south of I-90 by adding a northbound and southbound lane and operational improvements at the Ironwood Drive intersection. A shared-use path will be added along both sides of US-95, connecting Ironwood Drive to the I-90 trail and across I-90 to the north.
Benefits
-
Increases the capacity of the roadway to meet current and future traffic demands.
-
Improves intersection operations at US-95 and Ironwood Drive, extending the life of the intersection as traffic to the area increases.
-
Extends the Centennial Trail from Northwest Boulevard to Government Way to provide new opportunities for active modes of transportation through this area.
